That's right, the title of the website. So when it comes to making your own website, make sure your title is eye-catching and relevant.
You might not realize it, but the title of your website is really important. Let's say you as a shopper are surfing the Internet for something specific. What catches your eye first? That's right, the title of the website. So when it comes to making your own website, make sure your title is eye-catching and relevant.

The title is going to attract people to your website and tell them exactly what you have to sell. A good title will rank high in the search engines, so that your website will come up sooner in searches when people are looking for your product or service.

Take a look at your title and make sure it works altogether. It should tell your prospective clients exactly what you sell and make it search engine friendly at the same time.

Don't make your website title the name of your company -- unless the name of your company specifically contains the name of what you're selling or something related to it, so that people know what you sell.

Let's say that you sell widgets. "John's Place" isn't going to tell folks you sell widgets. And it probably won't make people click on your website. By contrast, "John's Best Widgets" (johnsbestwidgets.com) is a good title and website name if you sell widgets, because it tells people exactly what you sell. And that means, more people are going to go to your website, because you have made it easy for them find what they want.

When picking the title for your website you want to keep in mind that you should use relevant keywords. Keywords are the words that are used in when someone does a search with a search engine.

So let's use the example above again. "John's Place" doesn't really give you any keywords that are going to help people find widgets. However, "best widgets" is an example of a really good keyword or keyword phrase, and the title and website name "John's Best Widgets" contains that keyword phrase, so that it will help people find exactly what they're looking for when they search for "best widgets."

Put your keywords in your title, and near the beginning of your title if you can; this will give it a higher search engine ranking. That means, your website will appear higher in search engine listings when someone does a keyword search on "pet foods." You might even think about putting the main keyword twice.

It can be difficult to do and you don't want to be repetitive, but you may be able to do it. For example, if your keyword phrase is "pet foods," you could say, "Smith Pet Foods, selling the best pet foods in the country." In other words, you make a statement instead of a repetitive nonsensical phrase.

Make sure your title persuades and encourages your prospects to click on the link and go to your site. If your title isn't persuasive, you're not going to get much traffic. In addition, try to get everything you need to say in 65 characters or fewer.

In general, search engines limit the length of the title that shows in search engine results. Google, for example, displays the first 60 to 66 characters. That means that you have to say what you need to say very quickly.

Don't use secondary keywords in your title. Use them on your main page instead. Your title should use only your main keywords, which are really important. The website title itself should also be short and sweet. Don't over stuff with repetitive keywords, which simply makes you sound desperate and not very professional.

How To Rank On Page 1 Of Google In 5 Simple Steps

I recently read an article who compared Google to a woman! Although quite surprising at first, I realized that the author was right on the button. I personally believe Google is or at least act as a princess, but it's a matter of degree in opinion.

I recently read an article who compared Google to a woman! Although quite surprising at first, I realized that the author was right on the button. I personally believe Google is or at least act as a princess, but it's a matter of degree in opinion.

So why is that, and what does it have to do with ranking on Page 1 of Google? Everything! Ever heard the expression "If she ain't happy, nobody ain't happy"? That is precisely what I am talking about.

Google has do's and don'ts. Do what Google expects you to and you will be rewarded, Do something Google frowns upon, and be prepared to suffer "Google wrath" ...

So what does Google want, what does Google like?

Above anything else, Google wants to offer its clients with a pleasant and positive experience. It does make sense if you think about it. If you are looking for something, enter your search in Google and find it right away, you will be happy, you will come back another time, and maybe even click on one or two PPC (Pay-Per-Click) ads. And THAT, Google likes a lot...

Now what would happen if you couldn't find what you were searching? You would not be happy, possibly frustrated, and you could decide the unimaginable ... check if Yah__ could give you a valid answer. And that is unthinkable for Big G!

- 1 - Be congruent. Make sure that your keywords and meta tags are related with the content of your webpages. In other words, tricking someone to visit your website by using keywords unrelated to the page they visit is not a good way to get noticed.

- 2 - Provide valuable content. The days of using a website as an online business card are over. You need to provide content, valuable content to be exact, and you need to change it, update it and improve it on a regular basis. Fresh and new content makes Google happy. Wants to make G. even happier? create a short video, put it on youtube, and then embed it in your web page.

- 3 - Use long-tail keywords. Alright listen up. It would seem logical at first that you want to be found with a simple one word keyword, but it is not so.

Having worked with people in the mortgage industry, I could give you the name of a few who would give their right arm to rank on page 1 for the word "mortgage". Well, it would surely bring a lot of traffic, but probably not the one they really want, that is targeted, ready-to-buy traffic. Short-tail keywords that are 1 or 2 words are usually "browser" keywords. Long-tail keywords, 3-5 words are buying keywords.

Let me give you an example. Typing "Digital Camera" means you are in search mode. You want to learn about digital cameras, see what they can do, and what to expect. Now if you type " Canon Powershot A540" you are in buying mode. You have already done your research, you know which camera you want, and now you are looking for the best place to buy. See the difference? Long-tail keywords is what you want. they are buying keywords.

- 4 - Increase your backlinks. One crucial way for Google to see how valuable your content is, is by the traffic generated, But Google also heavily relies on backlinks. Google works on the assumption that the more websites link to yours, the more valuable your website is. This is a challenging part of the process to ranking high and it is the subject of an article by itself. If you want to learn more about it, feel free to contact me.

- 5 - Take your time and be consistent. Take some time everyday or every week, and do something to improve your ranking. Update your content regularly, add a few backlinks every week or two. The more consistency the better. Resist the idea of doing everything all at once. It might get you a faster ranking, but do not forget, the faster the climb, the faster the fall. A steady and consistent work on your site will bring you and keep you where you want for months, maybe even years to come.

#1: Social Media

Now is the time to begin with social marketing. It's still on the ground floor, and we all know how good it is to start on the ground floor when it's just about ready to skyrocket. Latecomers to social media won't benefit anywhere near as much as you will as a 'nowcomer.'

That's because social media marketing is all about building relationships with others and building networks and contact lists. The sooner you get started building a good reputation in your niche, establishing yourself as an expert and building social media networks, the more you stand to gain when you fully leverage your reputation, content and networks. So where do you start? With the some of the biggest social media sites, including:

* Web 2.0 content sites, like Squidoo.com. These sites let you page one-page websites around niche topics. Google tends to crawl these pages often and rank them well.

* Squidoo.com and similar sites allow you to show one page to show off your knowledge about any niche topic you like, free. Google loves pages like this.

* Social bookmarking sites, like Digg.com. These sites allow users to share content - and they can be a great tool in your viral marketing campaigns.

* Digg.com and other Social bookmarking sites are great ways to share favorite sites with others. If you want to launch a viral marketing campaign, then this is one of the best ways to do it..

You can pull in traffic from the search engines in two ways:

There are two ways to attract search engines:

*Sponsored results- these are the paid ads that always appear at the top of search engine searches. The most famous of course is Google AdWords.

Both of these methods should be used to while trying to attract search engines. Pay per click, (sponsored) give you almost instant results. On the other hand, organic results have 'staying power' and can deliver you leads for years to come.

#3 Should I Buy an Ad?

In addition to all this social networking, nothing beats a plain old ad. However, ads have moved online just like the rest of the world. Buying ads can drastically increase your business. Where should you buy ads? Here:

*Text or banner ads on specialty niche sites

* Buying ads and solo ads in highly targeted niche ezines.

* Buying blog ads.

* Buying ads in offline publications, including niche magazines and the related topics of daily newspapers.

Do I Really Need to Use All Three?

It's not a question of better. For the best results, you need to use all these methods simultaneously. All these methods have proven themselves over and over again. when used together, they form an almost unbeatable team.

Although these three are good, there are few other techniques that when combined with the three mentioned ones, will create an unimaginable number of people looking to buy your product. Does Auto Submission Damage Your Rankings?

If you're looking for short cuts to high search engine placements, you'll be looking for a very long time. I recently worked with someone on search engine optimization and spent a good deal of time focusing on both on page optimization techniques and off page optimization. Due to a relatively simple web site, optimizing their pages was relatively easy. We soon focused on off page optimization and some techniques to quickly build links to their website.

Building your web site's popularity is essential for improving your search engine rankings. Major search engines like Google apply an algorithm to define the value of your web site or web page. This in turn drives your search engine ranking for specific keywords. One way to think about the process of web site ranking is like a voting machine. The more votes you get the better your site ranks.

The very first thing to do is to evaluate a web site for the criteria that would make it easy to spider. Search engines spider need to access quality content to better classify each page on the web. After applying navigation that allows users to easily find content and search engine spiders to categorize content properly, its time to identify effective link building strategies.

A popular strategy that is used by many SEO professionals is found in directory submissions. The proper directories can provide one way links that can have a significantly positive impact on the search engine rankings for any web site or blog. For the web site I was recently working on I decided to find a submission service that would take the process of manual submission off the table. I believed that the auto submission would be as effective but require much less effort.

In as little as forty eight hours of the website being submitted through an automated submission service, rankings for particular keywords were negatively impacted and significantly. We lost anywhere from ten to thirty spots on search engine rankings. One might be able to argue that the auto submission was not detectable and therefore could not have had this effect. I disagree as there were no other factors related to SEO that we were working on at the time.

At the time, we were not focused on any other type of link building activity. Due to the immediate nature of the impact on search rankings, I've concluded that automated submission had a negative impact that was significant. My only hope is that its not everlasting.

If you are familiar with search engine optimization and building links to improve your search engine ranking, be cautious of automatic submission services. Whether it be for search engine submission or directory submission, you can damage your current rankings. Major search engines seem to be catching on to automatic submission sites and are having an impact on results. I still encourage you to submit your website to a small number of choice directories but do it one site at a time.

SEO Tips to Improve Search Engine Optimization

With search engines ranking as a top traffic driver for many blogs and content sites, optimizing a site for search engine exposure is an increasingly critical component of any online marketing effort.

With search engines ranking as a top traffic driver for many blogs and content sites, optimizing a site for search engine exposure is an increasingly critical component of any online marketing effort.

SEO, or search engine optimization is the method of using both technical and not so technical techniques to insure that people that are interested in the things on your site, will be able to find it.

I did some online research and received some great tips from other site managers on how I could improve the SEO for my website, and I've distilled those tips into some basics that are relevant to any content site that wants more search engine traffic.

Sites that are just starting out should focus on getting plenty of incoming links. This is what Google uses to rank sites. More inbound links equals more authority.

When you are trying to increase traffic it's important to remember no to go overboard with your SEO efforts. Google will catch on and lower your sites ranking if you create dummy pages and links for the sole purpose of increasing the exposure to your site for a specific keyword.

With those caveats in mind, lets look at some of the best SEO tips to implement.

Get both inbound and outbound links. While Google ranks your sites importance on the number of inbound links coming from other sites, it gives much more weight to in links from authority sites.

2. Headlines and title tags should have keywords up front. As you consider SEO for your site, think about the important keywords that people might search for in Google that would bring up your site.

Search engines tend to put more weight on keywords earlier in the page title. One fallout of having these keyword-filled headlines is that you can't be as creative as tabloid newspapers can be.

3. Web addresses for your blog posts or articles should include keywords. Similarly, it's important that the URL for each story contains the keywords from your headline and even the category for the story.

Page descriptions should be eliminated if they are not unique. If you simply insert the pages first sentence or use the exact same Meta description on every page, it's not even as relevant as the description that Google can easily pull from the site. If your Meta description is the same on every page you are better off without it.

5. Highlight your best content on every page. One feature that is common on major news sites is a list of "Most Popular Stories" or "Most Emailed Stories." Having that list in a prominent place on your site, on all pages, would bring more traffic (and inbound links) to your site's best content, and serve as an entree into the site for people who just came to read one post.

Many visitors will leave the site after reading just one post, but if you make it simple for them to locate your best work then they might just stick around and read more or subscribe to your blog feed if they find your content compelling enough.

Limit tags and categories to the most important ones. Highlight only the most important categories and put the rest on another page. Too many tags causes there to be links that aren't very useful. It's better to limit tags to the most important keywords.

7. Create a Google News sitemap and optimize images. Google recommends that publishers submit special "sitemaps" to help the search engine to index your pages. Sitemaps are dynamic XML files that you submit to Google and are used by their spider to index your content.

To get your pages on the top of the search engines you need to first get it indexed by the search engine spiders. This article will help you design your site so the spiders will come back often and index your pages so they will be found when people search for them. These tips will help search engine spiders index and rank your pages high.

Keep your content fresh. Search engines love new, unique content. This is like food to the spiders, this is what they are looking for. Post to a blog a few times a week and ping your blog. Each time you post your content use a service like AutoPinger or Ping-O-Matic to let the search engines know of your new content. Include a link to your website at the bottom of your article and the spiders will follow the link to your site.

Keep your site map up to date. The spiders look for site maps so they can index all the pages. It makes it easier for them to get to the deeper pages on your site.

If the search engine spiders can not find all the pages on your site then some of your pages will remain dormant and no one will see them. To make sure this does not happen make sure your main directory and subdirectories include a site map. You can also use keyword links at the bottom of the pages to connect relevant pages with keyword-rich content.

The content for your site should be seeded with keywords that searchers would type into the search engines to find your products. Use terms that are most relevant to the products you sell. They should include your business name, products name and a combination of both. Establish the keywords that your content will contain, then work them into you content in natural way. Do not over use keywords or place them where they don't belong. You want the content to be natural.
